Define the audit role you need

Someone joining an internal audit programme may need different learning from an experienced auditor who will lead a team. Describe the planned responsibilities before choosing between an internal auditor and a lead auditor course.

Separate knowledge of ISO 9001 from knowledge of audit methods. A useful course outline makes both visible, so you can judge whether existing knowledge is assumed or taught.

Check the edition and entry knowledge

Ask which edition and amendments the course covers and whether any transition content is included. ISO's official catalogue identifies a new 2026 edition; the course provider must explain the basis of the course you are booking.

Check language requirements, prior standard knowledge and any preparation expected. A learner who needs time to understand basic quality management concepts should know that before attending an intensive audit course.

Inspect the practical work

Ask how learners practise the work: forming audit questions, selecting samples, tracing a process and distinguishing evidence from opinion. Exercises should give enough context to evaluate a finding rather than reward memorised wording.

For team leadership, look for practice in assigning work, resolving inconsistent evidence and communicating conclusions. Ask how feedback is given and how performance in exercises contributes to the overall result.

Confirm what completion means

Request the attendance and assessment requirements, resit arrangements and exact certificate outcome. If your employer or a professional body requires recognised training, verify the exact course reference and approval rather than relying on the phrase lead auditor.

Tell CORE the role, language, location and delivery format you need. Course availability, edition and any recognition are confirmed for the proposed booking. Training does not confer an advantage in a certification decision.

Your working checklist

Use this list when discussing your requirements. It helps organise questions and does not determine conformity or certification eligibility.

Put the questions to the right team

Tell CORE what you need assessed or what your team needs to learn. The scope, availability and applicable arrangements are confirmed for your enquiry.
